Privacy Policy
This page explains what personal information the D'Arcy Keene for Regional Councillor campaign collects through this website, how we use it, and what choices you have.
What we collect
We collect information you voluntarily provide through the forms on this website:
- Volunteer signup: name, email, phone (optional), street address (optional), availability, areas of interest, and any message you include.
- Lawn sign request: name, email, phone, full street address, and placement preference — required so we can deliver and install the sign.
- Contact form: name, email, phone (optional), topic, and your message.
- Newsletter signup: your email address.
- Donations by Interac e-Transfer: the full name and address you include in the e-Transfer message field, as required by Ontario's Municipal Elections Act, 1996.
We also collect basic technical information that any web server records automatically: your IP address, browser user-agent, and the date/time of your visit. This is used only to detect spam and abuse.
How we use it
- To reply to questions, deliver lawn signs, schedule volunteer activities, and respond to feedback.
- To send campaign updates by email, if you sign up for the newsletter — you can unsubscribe at any time.
- To comply with our legal obligations as a registered municipal campaign in Halton Hills, Ontario — including maintaining records of donations as required by the Municipal Elections Act.
Who has access
Your information is shared only with the candidate, the campaign's Chief Financial Officer, and authorized volunteers who need it to do the task you've signed up for. We do not sell or trade your information to anyone. We do not run third-party advertising trackers on this site.
How long we keep it
We retain your information for the duration of the campaign and for the records-retention period required by the Municipal Elections Act after the October 2026 election (typically four years for campaign financial records). Outside of legally required retention, we delete inactive contact information on request.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- Confirm what personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that's inaccurate.
- Remove you from the volunteer list, newsletter list, or any other contact list.
- Delete your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
Email info@keene4georgetown.ca with your request and we'll respond within 30 days.
Donations and the Municipal Elections Act
Ontario's Municipal Elections Act, 1996 caps individual contributions at $1,200 per candidate. Donor names and addresses must be recorded by the campaign and reported to the Town of Halton Hills after the election. Donor information is held in trust by the campaign's CFO until disclosure is legally required.
Cookies and tracking
This site uses only essential cookies needed to make the website work. We do not run advertising trackers, social media pixels, or third-party analytics that profile you.
Children's privacy
We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has submitted a form, email us and we'll delete the record.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted on the homepage for at least 14 days.
